I am still sitting here all aglow with the beauty of the words penned by Pepper Basham. God has truly gifted her with an amazing talent of story telling. I read the first book by her, The Thornbearer, and it was good, but The Thornkeeper surpasses it ten fold. The story of Catherine is a story of God's love and redemption. Even knowing God has forgiven her for her past sins, Catherine has a hard time forgiving herself and accepting that she is worthy of anything good. Dr. David Ross sees her as God sees her and admires her spirit and determination to help those less fortunate. They work together patching up wounded soldiers that have been injured in the war.Their relationship blossoms and grows as the pages are turned in spite of circumstances and those wanting to cause them harm.
I loved the supporting characters as well, most of them anyway. Of course there are antagonists to make things interesting, surprise happenings that catch you unaware, all set during WWI.
If you love to read historical romance, touched with a little mystery, and surprises, you'll love this novel. No fear if you haven't read the first book, this one can be read as a standalone. But after reading The Thornkeeper, I'm sure you'll want to go back and read The Thornbearer.
I was given this ebook to read and give my honest opinion, which I have done.
