The Heart’s Appeal by Jennifer Delamere is book two of the London Beginnings series. The Heart’s Appeal is a historical romance set in London in 1881. This is the first novel written by Jennifer Delamere that I have read; I want to read the first title in this series and any other of her works. The first scenes draw the reader in, as a future medical student, Julia Bernay, is thrust into a train accident and must use her skills and knowledge to save a life. Her official training that will lead to a career as a doctor is soon delayed. A case over the future of a women’s medical school in London sets Julia and the young barrister whose life she saved on opposite sides. The plot is very intriguing, and the relationships in several different families present difficulties and misunderstandings that can disrupt family harmony.
The author weaves scripture and Christian belief throughout the story, showing God’s mercy, guidance, and grace. I received this book through the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
