The Baron's Governess Bride
By Deborah Hale
I have just recently finished reading the book, The Baron/s Governess Bride by Deborah Hale. It is a Love Inspired Histoical Novel.
This book is a little bit of Nanny McPhee, Mary Poppins and a mix of Jane Austen. It could not get any better than that!! The book centers around the main character, Grace Ellerby who becomes a nanny for a lord and gentleman, Lord Steadwell. He is a widow who is trying to bring up three daughters with unique and different personalities. His life centers around his daughter's. When Grace enters the picture, changes do take place. She hides her true identity (Nanny McPhee, Mary Poppins) to avoid improper advances from gentleman. It is exactly what Lord Steadwell is looking for~~a constant and consistent role model for his daughter's. But, how long can she hide this identity from this family ??
I really enjoyed this book. After reading another review, someone also compared it to "Cinderella." It is funny, because that was not my first impression. However, after much thought and reflection, I could see the connections.
I love Jane Austen and I felt like I was sort of reading a Jane Austen book. The imagery was captivating. I loved everything about it.
I would highly recommend this book if you love Christian historical romance novels.
