Review of "Skin in the Game" by Rick Lawrence

Rick Lawrence has provided us with an excellent guide to having “Skin in the Game.” The “game” is our lives—our feelings and thoughts about ourselves; our ability to confront our fears and embrace the risks; our calling on and waiting for Jesus when hope appears to be lost. I especially appreciated the list of ideas for personal reflection and/or group discussion at the end of each chapter. Anyone can benefit from spending time in this book. I loved being able to pick it up and spend a half hour or so with one chapter at a time.

This book will challenge you to think about where you are in your relationship with God. It is an interesting read. You have to take your time to really listen to what God wants you to get out of this book.

I was reminded that God call for me to be 100% with my relationship with him. I was reminded that we cannot be what we want to be without God. He is the reason for everything we do.

I would recommend this book for anyone who feels stuck in their relationship with God. It is for those that have forgotten who God is and wants to change. It is for those who are curious about how to give your all to God.

Two of my favorites sentences in this book.

Rick writes that “we’re all wired to align ourselves with something (Page 50).

Because of its ability to threaten and expose our trust issues, fear has an unmatched capacity to drag what we hide in the dark into the blinding light. Fear highlights our core beliefs about ourselves, others and God. Page 81

I received this book for free from The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest review. I also posted this review on Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, Goodreads, Deepershopper, etc.)”
