After visiting many sites in the last few days, getting the word out about our network, I have implemented some basic changes that will keep our site more secure as well as protect our membership from unwanted communications.
This involves making it more difficult for someone to join, and I apologize to new members for this in advance, but it I think it would be worth it to feel safer and so I implemented a few obstacles to joining.

I wanted you to be aware of these changes in case there are issues that arise from those friends you invite to join.

· First all potential members will have to verify their email address when they sign up.

This will mean submitting the address and receiving a link in their email they will have to click to activate.

· Next all applicants will be asked a question and will fill out a capture (That little two word box that you can barely read and fill in)

· After that there will be a couple of questions and an explanation of why we are making it so difficult to join.

You can actually see this "profile" on your page now under Public Information" however the information with a little lock by it can only be seen by the administrator. We want to give you all the privacy we can.

Take a look on your Settings Page and you can fill out the information if you want?

· Once these steps are taken there is an approval process whereby we will review the information and approve the member.

Please understand that some of the networks and club sites I have been visiting, who do not take these steps, have all sorts of "dating" and "advertisements" that I believe none of us need to see.

I am open to comments on this, and look forward to your feedback, for or against.

We just think it is better to be safer.

It's an excellent policy, Fred. Otherwise members get spammed to death.
Thank you once again.

Agreed and thank you. When teach a Bible Study and the class wants to share contact information I remind them no spamming!

I agree, these all look to be very reasonable steps that will help keep this network focused. I also appreciate the efforts at keeping member's privacy a priority.

New Member Orientation

We are posting videos here in the this group to help all of our members figure out how to use this site :-)

We will be posting videos all the time now, basically going through the entire site.
