I throughly enjoy reading medical mysteries and this one was superb! It held my attention so much that I easily read it in two days. It's a story of tragic loss, not only in the life of the main character, Dr. Sarah Gordon, ER physician, but several of the other characters. She lost her husband and two year old daughter in a head on collision and was still suffering through those emotions when an unknown assailant begins threatening phone calls, tries to burn her house down among other things. She begins carrying a gun, getting a home security system and being on alert to the point of exhaustion. Bill, a detective, and Kyle, a lawyer and family friend, both offer assistance to her to find the unknown person. I must admit, as in other mysteries I've read, I tried to no avail to figure out who the culprit was. That to me is a great writer! I was kept on the edge of my seat, as I turned page after page. Reading at night is not always good either when devouring this type of book because even I started being alert to every little sound I heard or thought I heard inside as well as outside my home!
This was truly well written in character development as well as plot. I'll definitely be reading more of Dr. Mabry's books in the future.
I received this book through a contest I won and was not required to write a review, positive or otherwise.
