Pepper Basham has a very special God given gift. She puts phrases together in a very unique and entertaining way. I've read all of her books so far and this has to be one of my favorites. I fell in love with the characters, all of them, including the minor ones, well, except for a couple of the trouble makers. But they had to be in the story to give some conflict. The characters were written as imperfect people, which made them all the more real. God's love and grace was allowed to shine through and change the minds and hearts of the two main characters, Eisley and Wes. Both were skiddish about a new relationship after their troubles from their pasts. Learning to trust again played a big part in their decisions. Romance was front and center but there was mystery too. Eisley went to England to research the life of a distant relative from 500 years ago that her uncle wanted to write about. Some hidden letters revealed some interesting information that went straight to Eisley's heart.
Eisley and Wes both had some very strong family ties. Very different locations, very different upbringings, but both based on relationships with God.
And this would not be a novel by Pepper Basham without some wonderful humor "peppered" throughout the pages. (Pardon the pun)
I'm looking forward to more stories coming from this Blue Ridge Mountain area. They are quite entertaining, and that's why I read.
Of all the books I've read, few make me think they'd make a great movie but this is one I'd like to see played out on the big screen!
I received this ebook from the author through the publisher and was not required to write a review, positive or otherwise.
