When I first started reading this story I questioned where it was going as the first chapter was so factual in the beginning, but I just knew there had to be more. Once Maple Grove coffee shop owner Katherine “Katie” Montague is introduced as the storyteller Secrets of the Pastor’s Wife takes off in an intoxicating delight and became a book I didn’t want to put down. Katie drew me into the story and Cassie’s story kept me turning the pages.
The torment Cassie carried from childhood and how it effected her life was so well depicted by Christina. I was awed by how Christina chose Cassie to write short stories that she had Katie read to help describe her torment. This is something that I have never seen before and I really enjoyed reading these little shorts and how they helped Katie help Cassie release her secrets.
