Courting Cate (The Courtships of Lancaster County) by Leslie Gould

Very entertaining Amish fiction!

In Paradise, Pennsylvania 23-year-old Amish beauty, Cate Miller remains single and the talk of her community. Referred to as a shrew because of her irritable and stubborn nature, Cate has lost all hope of finding a husband. Her quick tongue, stubborn attitude and lack of proper domestic skills has turned every young bachelor against her. Forsaken by Shelley Ring

Contemporary Tale of Naomi & Ruth

First-time author Shelley Ring has produced a contemporary, multilayered parallel to the biblical account of Naomi and Ruth. "Forsaken" is a Christian narrative of personal relationships, heartache, romance, emotion and challenges. The story is told in the first person, alternating between Lara and her mother-in-law, Naomi. Having suffered tragic losses which impacted every aspect of their lives, Naomi rejected God. As their personal…

The Memory Jar by Tricia Goyer

Every year, 30--40 young Amish men descend on the cozy little town of West Kootenai, Montana, arriving in the spring to live there for six months and receive 'resident' status for the hunting season in the fall. They arrive as bachelors, but go home with…

The Twelfth Juror Christmas Excerpt

The sweet sound of Mother Harriet’s voice broke through her thoughts, “Ain’t Christmas wonderful?” she was saying. “When I was a child we always looked forward to Christmas. My father didn’t have no money and there wasn’t presents much, but my folks tried to get us each a little somethin’. Then after we was through with dinner we would sit, and Mama would read from the Bible. It was the most beautiful time of the whole…

A Message For All Times

In high school I lived in fear of having to read, To Kill a Mockingbird. I really don’t know how I got around it, but I would guess cliff notes saved me. I wasn’t into literary fiction in my teenage years. The books I read were more historical fiction and love stories.

After all these years I can finally say I have read, To Kill a Mockingbird. Jack Walker, my high school English teacher would be so proud. I feel I must say a few words about this profound story. …

Never Trust a Pretty Wolf

Never Trust a Pretty Wolf by Elaine Cantrell deserves a solid five-plus stars. In fact, this is one I might actually read again, which for me is the sign of a really good book. It all starts out as a game as Liesel Wolf and Andy Bryce are paired up for a charity ‘geocache’ game sponsored by a local millionaire. However, the game goes sour when real danger comes their way. As it turns out, both Andy and Liesel have some nasty secrets from the past. Andy is a US Marshal on leave…

Road Blocks

I have had the privilege to travel to some very beautiful spots in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. From the white sandy shores and clear blue waters of Kauai, to cruising the waters of Alaska where great masses of ice are slowly edging their way to the sea. But there is one place I keep returning to. Cades Cove, Tennessee. For over twenty…

From Now Until Forever - a review

From Now Until Forever by Sherry Gloag starts out with a bang.  We are thrust immediately into the middle of a gun-fight/ stake out at a horse ranch where the main character, Liam Fitzwilliam Gasquet, has been caught in the cross fire. Liam, who is actually the crown prince of a small, independent European country, has been living under an alias for several years in an effort to escape the demands of his royal heritage. During that time he met and married Melanie, owner of the…
