Book Review - Fired Up by Mary Connealy

This book was just so much fun! I enjoyed every page.

Like it's predecessor, Swept Away, Fired Up is a wild, dangerous, and humorous ride in a small Texas town in the late 1860's.

The book starts with an avalanche of rocks that nearly takes out most of the main characters and continues on with a fire, a measles…

Review of Redeeming Reputation by George McVey

I am a great fan of Al Lacy's Journey of the Stranger and I must say I enjoyed George Mcvey's Redeeming Reputation every bit as much as Lacy's books.I think that Nathen Ryder is a hero in the best tradition of the western novel...He will either lead you to Christ or help you along your way to Hell with the help of his quick draw.

Review of Take a Chance On Me by Susan May Warren

After growing up in foster homes all Ivy wants is to belong. She is sure that she has found that place when she accepts a job as assistant county attorney in the small Village of Deep Haven MN. The village is small and everyone knows everyone, but she doesn't count on the fact that she will be prosecuting neighbors and friends. Also a case from her past surfaces involving her new friends. Does she stay true to her job ethics or side with her friends? To complicate things even further,…

Review of Gabriel, The war In Heaven by Ellen Gunderson Traylor

Ellen Gunderson Traylor has done a wonderful job of describing how events may have occurred in Heaven. I enjoyed her vivid description of various angels and their roles. I really look forward to the next installment of her War in Heaven series. I hesitate to say more, because Ellen says it so much better. Just read this book as a might have been...not gospel.…

Review of In Plain Sight by Marlayne Giron

I wish there was a sequel to this book. I loved the characters of Rebecca and Seth. When I first heard of an Amish story with crop circles and aliens, I thought well this can't work. But I was presently surprised by Marlayne Giron's story. She did a wonderful job of making the story plausible. I look forward to reading more books by Marlayne. Her story evoked many emotions and I have to admit at times I needed a kleenex. So do yourself a favor and settle in for a good read.

Review of Kerry

“The crowd was indeed thinning at last, but there was no sign of McNair anywhere. Kerry looked at her watch and saw that it was a full half hour since he had left her. Oh, what had become of him, and where was her precious manuscript?” Grace Livingston Hill writes in her novel, Kerry.

Review of THE GOLD SHOE

“But it was by that fervent, eager prayer that Marget knew that the little gold shoe had someway got entangled with her lad’s heartstrings, and she could only pray the more, that the Lord’s will might be done;” Grace Livingston Hill writes in her novel in the Love Endures series, The Gold Shoe.

Dakotah Treasures

I've finished reading the third book in Lauraine Snelling's series, Dakotah Treasures. I'm excited to see that there is a 4th book in the series. I feel like each book leaves you dangling, I guess so you will get the next one. I've been enjoying the books and need to find the next book in the series. :)

Review of THE SUBSTITUTE GUEST

“They’ve gone on foot to take some medicine up the mountain the Farley house on the cliff, where there is a woman who will die if she doesn’t get it by six o’clock. They’ve been gone half an hour, and it is the longest half hour I ever lived through,” Daryl worries in Grace Livingston Hill’s novel, The Substitute Guest.

Review of Reign: The Chronicles of Queen Jezebel

I have always admired authors of good Biblical fiction because it makes those long and winding passages in the Old Testament come to life for me. Ginger Garrett’s book, Reign: The Chronicles of Queen Jezebel, did not disappoint.

Even though I have read the story of Queen Jezebel in I and II Kings, Miss Garrett’s fictionalized account, based on extensive research, put me inside the stubborn mind and hardened heart of this Biblical character.  I could feel Jezebel’s…

Review of ALL FOR A STORY

“I have to write what I see, Max. You’re the editor, publish what you want, or don’t. Now since this little group of saintly sisters seems to have captured your heart, tell me, how do I look?” Monica asks in Allison Pittman’s novel, All for a Story.

Review of A Search for Purple Cows

“I begged God not to let any of Joe’s plans take root. I prayed for complete protection of those to whom Joe wished ill will. And most of all, I prayed for Joe. Who had Joe become? I didn’t recognize this stranger,” Susan Call writes in her memoir, A Search for Purple Cows.

review of EXAMINE YOUR FAITH!

“Confident belief for what is not yet proven, or that which is not yet experienced, can only exist once a person has sufficient objective, verifiable evidence and/or experience. The term sufficient is key – what is sufficient for one may not be for someone else,” Pamela Christian states in her book, Examine Your Faith! Finding…

Review of Ladybird

“You needn’t worry about me, really,” she laughed. “I’m perfectly all safe, and you know God is in New York, too. ‘The Bible says He is.’” Farley explains in Grace Livingston Hill’s novel, Ladybird.
