As the murder investigation gets underway we learn about the sometimes dark events that often occur during this famous carnival season. Dance with Jesus by Susan B. Mead

The day I received this book I couldn't wait to open the cover and start reading. I did so in one sitting. I've experienced grief many times in my 64 years but none hit me harder than losing my mother Thanksgiving Day 2017. I wanted to read this book to see what comfort I could grab a hold of. I've not lost a child like the author has but her insights and scripture she has included have brought great support and reassurance. I enjoyed the chapter titles and the personal reflection questions…

My Review of Shadow Sister by Katherine Scott Jones

There are so many reasons why I love this book. It is a beautifully written story that left me in suspense until the very end. Yes, it is filled with clues but there are also secrets and we readers are reminded that the secrets that we think will prevent hurt can actually cause the most pain. I assumed that the title was a reference to the relationship between Sarah and her older sister Jenna but now, as I write this, I believe that it was a feeling shared by both. Perhaps Jenna felt as much…

Homespun. Edited by Lorilee Craker

Plain and Simply Good

This was a compilation of many stories by Amish and Mennonite women. There were six categories, hospitality, home, faith, miracles, family and love. The stories were as different as the women who wrote them but all centering around the love of Christ. Memories of childhood, struggles in adult life, death, and family issues were a part of the stories.

One story that especially drew me in was a younger sister that had always felt inferior to her older sister.…
