Review of REFINING FIRE

Refining Fire (Brides of Seattle)

“We’re quite the pair. She won’t talk about her past, and I won’t talk about mine. Seems there’s very little we trust each other enough to share,” Thane ponders about Militine in Tracie Peterson’s novel,Refining Fire.

Daughter of the Regiment – Stephanie Grace Whitson (4-4.5 Stars)

Stephanie Grace Whitson’s Daughter of the Regiment focuses on the unique position of Missouri in the Civil War.  In a region that directly pitted neighbor against neighbor, the novel follows two women who come to represent the polarizing nature of the conflict and the enormous socio-economic differences present among the population.  Before the war, Irishwoman Maggie Malone spends her time working alongside her brothers and uncle to manage their family farm.  After receiving word that…

Review of FIVE BRIDES

Five Brides

“This is all quite mad. We’re going to buy a dress for weddings we’ve not yet received proposals for? And what if one of us never marries? Or waits. A long, long time,” Joan questions her roommates in Eva Marie Everson’s novel, Five Brides.

Review of THE CHOOSING

The Choosing (A Seer Novel)

“Lying on the bed were three grey uniforms that were painful to touch – painful because of the reality they drove home: that she was stuck in a life that would never hold the future she had been promised, that she really was as worthless as she’d always feared,” Carrington acknowledges in Rachelle Dekker’s debut novel, The Choosing.

Review of GOLLYWOOD, HERE I COME!

Gollywood, Here I Come!

Rescued by a Bridesmaid (The Bridesmaid Series Book 3) by Melinda Curtis

Action Packed!

I love Melinda Curtis’ writing. I am never disappointed when I read her work, and Rescued By a Bridesmaid is no exception.

Scarlet Kuhn Bonander has worked very hard at becoming a refined young lady, in every sense of the word. But Scarlet has a secret side to her that she works very hard at keeping under wraps. Most times she’s successful at it. However, most times she’s not around Mike Romero. Something about him makes it very hard…

Review of CRAZY LITTLE THING CALLED LOVE

“We couldn’t make our relationship work. Too much pressure. Not enough time together. I thought we were managing the long-distance relationship okay, but we had a fight and we couldn’t figure out a way to forgive each other,” Vanessa confesses in Beth K. Vogt’s novel, Crazy Little Thing Called Love.

Murder Freshly Baked (An Amish Village Mystery Book 3) by Vannetta Chapman

A Great Finale to a Great Series!

Let me just say that there are many things I enjoy about Vannetta Chapman’s writing.  But, one of the things I enjoy most is that her books in a series can be read as standalones.  And yet, each book in the series gives you just enough background information without overshadowing the current story.  As always, Ms. Chapman has done her homework and it shows in the details…

Review of BREAKING UP WITH PERFECTION

“Whatever life you live, we women enmeshed with perfectionism want to always live up to expectations and never let anyone down. By definition, pleasing ourselves means pleasing and taking care of everybody else,” Amy Carroll writes in the introduction to her book, Breaking Up with Perfect: Letting Go of Perfection and Discovering More Joy.

Crazy Little Thing Called Love

I loved this book for so many reasons. When I first heard about the storyline I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. The destination wedding was Destin, Florida right next to Fort Walton where I spent my honeymoon. And Tuscaloosa, Alabama where I live was mentioned TWICE! But the story was one that grabbed my heart. Falling in love at a young age can be disastrous but when God is in it we have to be patient. Vanessa and Logan were simply not patient or understanding with one another. No matter… Continue
