Liza's Second Chance by Molly Jebber

An Amish Charm Bakery Novel, first in a new series! This whole series is going to be great if they are all like this first one. The characters were real. The emotions were realistic and sometimes Kleenex grabbing. And the setting was described beautifully. I kept wanting to eat cookies or pastries. Thankfully the recipe for Liza's famous molasses cookies is found in the back of the book. They sound a lot like gingerbread cookies, which I love.

Liza had been in a very bad abusive marriage…

Jane of Austin – Hillary Manton Lodge (5 Stars)

Ms. Lodge recently released Jane of Austin as a contemporary nod to Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility.  Jane and her sisters live in San Francisco, where they have made a comfortable living as the proprietors of a boutique tea shop.  When their landlord dies and his heirs decide to take over the property, the Woodward sisters are forced to find a new location.  With sky-high rents throughout the area, the family decides to take advantage of their distant cousin’s offer to…

Grow Confidently in Your Faith: A lifelong journey to becoming more like Jesus by Carol Round

Amish Cooking Class The Celebration by Wanda Brunstetter

The third book in the Amish Cooking Class, The Celebration , was the final one of the series. I kept contemplating what the next one would be about when it hit me that this was the last one. I enjoyed them all so much and am sad to see them end. I guess Heidi and Lyle Troyer will be too busy now to have more cooking classes in their home!

This book had some serious issues brought to the surface and held great lessons for anyone reading to take in. No matter how a person or family looks…

Their Daring Hearts by Sharlene MacLaren

This was a very entertaining novel! I was drawn right in when I learned that the female heroine was going to disguise herself as a boy/man and join the Union Army during the Civil War. At nineteen years old she cut her long hair, put on baggy men's clothing and practiced talking with a deeper voice. The men in the regiment she was assigned to had a hard time believing Gordon Snipp was nineteen since "he" had no sign of whiskers, not even fuzz. But Josephine was determined to live out the lie…

No One Ever Asked by Katie Ganshert

This was one novel that I will remember for a very long time. Probably never forget. According to the author this fictional story was loosely based on actual events as early as 2013. Lots of time was spent on research, interviews, listening to an actual town hall meeting in its entirety, etc to bring this story to life. I always read the author's notes in the back of a book to gain insight into the preparations before writing. Ms. Ganshert has certainly done her "homework". This seemed to be…

Perennials – Julie Cantrell (4-4.5 Stars)

In Perennials, Eva “Lovey” Sutherland finds herself traveling back to her hometown in Oxford, Mississippi, for her parents’ 50th wedding anniversary.  For years, Eva felt that she was forced to abandon her idyllic childhood by her older sister, who cruelly blamed her for all of life’s wrongs.  However, Eva’s years away in Arizona have given her perspective and its own share of failure, even in the face of great success in her career.  In renewing her relationship with her…

The biggest problem they face is financial resources, so they arrange to barter for all the services that will be required to make the occasion as perfect as possible.
