The Seekers by Wanda E. Brunstetter

I am so happy. I received "The Seekers" by Wanda E. Brunstetter one day last week? Anyway, I can't stop reading it. I have a comment for almost every paragraph. The novel is about character building. That is one of my wishes. I want to grow spiritually.  I  have been reading the prayers slowly.  I think of the duties in the household: cooking, quilting and making a little money on the side for emergencies.  I want to try one of the recipes. Maybe a little Lentil soup with homemade…

The Seekers by Wanda Brunstetter

I loved this book! I've been waiting anxiously to read it ever since I read it was coming out, and was so excited when I found a copy in my mailbox. It was so heartwarming with interesting characters, all totally different with needs and problems unique to them.

Heidi Troyer is a young Amish woman who is unable to have children, and decides to offer a cooking class to help pass the time and make a little extra money. She has four students to sign up, and an unexpected student at the last… Continue

A Note Yet Unsung – Tamera Alexander (5 Stars)

In A Note Yet Unsung, Rebekah Carrington returns to her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee, after spending years training as an instrumental musician in Europe. However, only two orchestras in the United States have begun accepting women as members, with Nashville holding firm to the opinion that women do not belong among its male instrumentalists. The city’s new conductor, Nathaniel Tate Whitcomb, has grander projects to complete than prove that women belong in his orchestra. Instead, he must…

The Cherished Quilt by Amy Clipston

This novel had such heart throughout and I throughly enjoyed it. The characters were real, full of doubts, grief, family issues, love and friendship. A family tragedy brings Chris to his uncles house in Bird in Hand. His dad has hurt him terribly and he feels he is not wanted at his house. He learns a new trade at the hands of his uncle and his uncles partner and next door neighbor. The neighbor has a beautiful daughter, Emily, who realizes Chris is unhappy and has lots of things bothering him.… Continue

Amish Weddings (Book #3 of Neighbors of Lancaster County) by Leslie Gould

Leslie Gould takes Amish fiction a step further into a world of characters not only of the Amish community, but Englisch families as well. Relationships between the two cultures are interwoven with credibility and harmony. Characters from past novels in this series surface, but this could be a stand alone book. Personally, I would suggest…

Never Forget: Beacons of Hope series by Jody Hedlund

The last in the Beacons of Hope series is no disappointment! Jody Hedlund researches her setting and topic to the point that I could imagine myself on Rose Island. A stand alone novel, I highly recommend that you read all the books in this series.

Stars in the Grass by Ann Marie Stewart

I've never read another fiction book quite like this one. This is a story of how a terrible tragedy changes a family forever. The setting is a small town in Ohio and the year is 1970. I loved that the story is told from nine year old Abby's perspective. She desperately wants to hold her family together but it seems it's falling apart little by little. When some days become more than she can handle, she runs next door and seeks her best friend Rita. Her father, who's a pastor, hides in the… Continue
