Review of THE TRAITOR'S WIFE

“I see, as the men do, the panic, the bewilderment and despair of a woman who has just found out that her husband is a traitor. I see all that, but I see something they do not; I see that the pain she shows is nothing more than a mask. A painfully beautiful mask,” Clara notes in Allison Pataki’s novel, The Traitor’s Wife: The Novel.

Review of SOLOMON'S SONG

“There’s no hope for love between us. You will be married to my father, the king, and once you’ve been taken in to him, no other man can ever touch you,” Solomon explains to Shulamit in Roberta Kells Dorr’s novel, Solomon’s Song.

Review for Gods at War: student edition by Kyle Idleman - 4 stars

Great book!

Mr. Idleman is well known from his book, Not A Fan, and having read that book, I had very high expectations for this book. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to all of them.

This book is well written, with his trademark conversational tone and covers a very important subject: idolatry. Mr. Idleman points out that idols are all around us and sometimes aren’t even a tangible object. He covers the most common/popular ones with much thought and detail. He leads us…

REAL SENSITIVE

ELIMINATION DIET: "Food sensitivities can be a frustrating thing to deal with... The allergist I once worked for recommended an elimination diet which involves eliminating 8 different food categories for 5 days. Eggs, grains, dark sodas, dairy, citrus fruits/citrus juices, tomatoes, and unfortunately chocolate. After the 5th day you can add the foods you missed back into your diet...but be sure to add them back in 1 by 1...and pay attention to how your body reacts when re-…

Pray for a parking place?

This question was discussed in my Sunday school class. If we say yes, then isn't that selfish and self focused? But do we really want to say no? See my blog at  http://terrybarnes.us/blog

The Outrider Chronicles

This book is pure adventure with a little twist. The Outriders, who are the warriors for God, split. Now there is another group, The Tempest. This split was brought about by the disappearance of the Organization's leader. Now there is a battle between the two groups which, hopefully can be resolved when the leader is found.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat, as I turned page after page to discover what would be the next event.

Patricia Reamy created an excellent work of…

Review of STOLEN BUT NOT LOST

“Secrets of my past were about to surface. Some truths would have to be faced that would cause gut-wrenching pain. Many tears would result, many pages of journaling, and many days and nights of self-analysis. Many prayers would be needed to see me though this painful period of my life,” Janet Tombow writes in her book, Stolen But Not Lost.

"INNER BEAUTY VS. OUTER BEAUTY"

"Developing our inner beauty is more important than developing our outer beauty. Good luck with that in this society, right? I know, I tried to be "Little Miss Perfect" for many years. The message regarding perfection was delivered when I was a young girl, it grew in adolescence, and finally came to a head in adulthood. First it was about getting braces, then contact lenses, and all the "right" clothes. Later in life it was the "right" husband, big house, nice car, and finally..."…

Matthew 6:19-21

19) Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

20) But lay up for ourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

21) For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
