(Note: Once a week, I write a humor column for Christian Home Magazine. Since this week's article was inspired by a discussion here at The Book Club Network, I decided to post about it here too. Please remember this appears as a humor column. It's meant to be light-hearted, tongue in cheek, and - yes - even sarcastic. So, in the name of wholesome fun, here's what I wrote.)

I haven’t read any of your books yet, but they do look interesting. Please let me know if you are doing a promotion or giveaway so I can get one of your books to review. I review on Amazon, BN, Goodreads and my blog at

review of Paralyzed.

The second installment in this breath-stealing series can easily be read in a day and will leave your hungering for more. Still reeling from her kidnapping and her overloaded college schedule, Kennedy finds her paranoia adding to her troubles. Will life ever return to normal? She’s still looking over her shoulder and wondering which, if any, threats are real. Surviving her first year at Harvard seems simple compared to surviving the dangers lurking in her life. And she thought the North Korean Christians her missionary parents worked with had it tough. She could have learned from them. Now she’s faced with her own lessons, including how to turn to God for deliverance. Alana Terry has produced another thrilling novel. I recommend reading the first in the series before this one. I received a copy from Book Fun Network. All opinions are my own.

Here's my review of Unplanned. Also posting on FB, Amazon, BAM.

An exciting and intriguing novel that deals with conflicts around the prolife movement and involves kidnapping and danger in the midst of a busy first-year semester at Harvard and a gubernatorial race. You won’t want to put down this fast-paced story, which would be appropriate for older teens and adults. Kennedy Stern, the daughter of missionary parents in China, struggles with college, but life becomes increasing complicated as unexpected events place her in the middle of more trouble than she ever imagined. This book drew me right in and made me want to read it as quickly as possible then move on to the rest of the series. A powerful tale that makes you think too.

I finally got to your books on my TBR list. I started reading Paralyzed but that made me want to read the first of the series so I found Unplanned on my Kindle and devoured it. Drew me right in and kept the adrenalin pumping. My review will be up soon. Now I'm in the middle of Paralyzed and want to read the whole Kennedy series. Good suspense.

I split my time between Maine and VA, somehow managing to run Book Clubs in both states.   The VA BC now has over 80 members on the roster.  Some are shut-ins who just read at home, sometimes emailing book feedback to me.  The others attend either the Tuesday or Saturday group.  The discussion dates for your book are May 6 and 10 so I'll send you feedback after those dates.  Based on comments I've heard from some of our more speedy readers, I expect very favorable reviews!  :-)  I also anticipate placing The Beloved Daughter on my Maine BC's schedule after they discuss the books already queued on their reading list.  Extreme weather conditions this winter have them somewhat behind the VA club.  ;-)

Alana, thank you for the friend request.  I already have The Beloved Daughter on Kindle and am considering it for my Book Clubs.  I'm swamped right now, but would be most happy to post 5 stars for your book.  I highly recommend it to others looking for a terrific thought provoking read.
