ABOUT THE BOOK (124 pages):

When faced with difficulties in life or exciting new adventures, we each have a choice. Will you step out in faith or cower in fear? Life can be scary. Sometimes, through no fault of our own, we’re forced to deal with unemployment, a devastating health diagnosis, broken relationships, or financial difficulties. Sometimes, we feel God is leading us in a new direction and it can be exciting, but it can also be scary due to uncertainties and wondering if we heard God right.

Whatever you are facing right now, know that you have a choice. You can either walk forward with faith in your Heavenly Father and His promise to protect His children, or you can hold back in fear. Join me on my personal journey from living in fear to walking in faith. My journey isn’t over, but I offer encouragement to those who are struggling to take the first step, those who have been walking for a while, or those who are ready to give up. The God I serve is a personal God, who lovingly takes care of His children even in the midst of struggles they have to walk through. Think of me as your walking partner on your path as you receive encouragement through my journey.

Spoken from the Heart: Journey from Fear to Faith by Cheri Swalwell is an encouraging glimpse into the blessing of God in the lives of His children. Written in a daily use format, the author invites readers to join her on this particular journey into faith. One key theme throughout the book is in regards to a change in finances and learning to trust God to meet needs on a daily basis. Readers are encouraged in their own faith as the author shares things she is discovering--the Father's love, His faithfulness, and gracious provision as well as the importance of her own obedience, submission to His will and gratefulness to Him for His blessings. Swalwell uses not only her personal experience but also specific examples from the Bible to remind readers to not hold back in fear, to focus on the big picture, to recognize that God wants a personal relationship with each of us, to have confidence in His provision and to know that He has pleasure in that provision for His children. He is our Guide. He is our Deliverer. He is our Source of blessing. Learning to trust Him is done one day at a time, one foot in front of the other and resting in the knowledge that He has prepared the way ahead as we step out in faith. A heartfelt, scripturally solid book for those who want to take a step further on the journey to complete abandonment to God's adventures for their lives.

This is a daily devotional with an emphasis on strengthening your faith. It shows how she, and how you can/should, learn to trust in God more fully. It points out things we may have missed, like being grateful. It was helpful to me as my faith was wavering as I have been going through a lot of trials this past couple of years. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others. This was given to me in exchange for my honest review from Bookfun.org. This review is also posted on Amazon, B&N, Deepershopping, Goodreads, and Librarything.com

Thank you so much, Victoria.  I'm glad that God was able to use it to bless you.  May you continue to hear His leading in the trials you are facing.

Blessings to you - so glad I have a chance to get to know you through TBCN.

I really enjoyed this beautifully written book. It is written as a daily journal filled with encouragement and grace to help you learn to trust and walk in faith. That is really something I have struggled with all my life. I have such a hard time trusting anyone and it has stalled my walk with Him many times. I always think why would God do anything for me? How can I trust that He will not abandon me? I knew I had a long journey ahead of me with that kind of thinking. All I needed was faith. Now how was I going to have faith in something I couldn't see?

As I started to really study the Bible the verses started to make sense to me. I could feel His presence and felt my heart anxiously ready to trust Him. I loved when the author talks about obeying what God asks you to do. I love to bless people and I love doing it without any recognition. I have heard God say"Pay for that couple's groceries ." Just as the author said, I didn't do it to get a reward I did it to have peace. What if I missed my opportunity to bless someone ? I know I would be thinking about it all day and wonder if I was afraid to obey or too prideful?

We do seem to try to do all these things to please God. We volunteer for ministries and overwhelm ourselves. He isn't looking to see how much work we can do. What He does want is for us to spend time with Him. How many times have we said we are too busy to pray right now, or we need to rush off for a meeting at church? I know I have gotten caught up in doing so many things, I forget about my relationship with God. I loved how the author reminds us to give God our "firsts ." That doesn't just mean our" firsts " from income, but our" firsts " in spending time with Him.

I really liked the examples from the Bible that the author used to show us how to have childlike faith and to trust Him. There are so many people in the Bible that are great testaments to trusting God. What if Noah had ignored God? If the Israelites hadn't trusted God, what would have happened to them? Who would have protected them and provided food ?

I love the idea of a blessing journal. I always take notes as I'm reading so I can go back and reflect on them. What a great idea to write the blessings that God has done in our lives. As you read them, you can see a faithful trusting God who is always there.

Thank you for writing this beautiful book that I will treasure. I will go back to it daily to remind me that God has a plan for me and I choose to live by faith not by fear.

I appreciate Cheri Swalwell’s devotional books. They definitely share from the heart and speak right to readers’ hearts. Even if your experiences differ from hers, her honest sharing and powerful insights offer wisdom others can glean from. In this volume she tells how God helped guide her on the journey to overcome fear and replace it with authentic faith and trust that God would meet her family's needs. This is something I could certainly identify with. I heartily recommend this short spiritual treatise with its practical advice. I was given the book by Book Fun (The Book Club Network), and this is my honest review. Posted on FB and Amazon. BAM wouldn't allow reviews--link goes to "Forbidden" page. Will try later.

Thank you so much, Mary.  So glad that God allowed you to identify with some of the lessons He's been teaching me.

Blessings to you - so glad I get to know you through TBCN.  Have a wonderful rest of your day!

in Him,

Cheri Swalwell

Spoken from the Heart: Journey from Fear to Faith by author Cheri Swalwell is a deeply moving devotional written to inspire God's children. This extremely well thought, well written daily encouragement will stay with readers long after they have read it. The author has endeavored to inspire Christians in their daily walk from fear to faith, all while bringing glory to God. This most definitely was accomplished.

Each day begins with an inspirational quote or scripture followed by the day's lesson. Author Swalwell uses personal experiences, biblical examples and references from Christian authors to make her message hit home. These lessons remind readers of the great, everlasting love that God has for His children. They encourage us to step out in faith and leave fear behind. Topics range from tithing, health, and miracles to trust and obedience. One thing the author said that has stuck with me is that God is a very personal God. He knows exactly what we individually need at the time we need it. In her section on tithing, you mentions giving God the first 10% of everything you have - your time, talent, and not just money. Her daily lessons are thought provoking and food for the hungry soul. This devotional will strengthen your faith and feed your spirit.

I love the easy writing style author Swalwell uses. Her book is well thought and organized so that the devotions touch readers. Reading her devotional is like chatting with a friend and asking "what can I do to strengthen my faith?" Or tell a close sister friend that fear is taking over your life and you need help. This reads like a helpful conversation over a cup of your favorite coffee or tea.

I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking a diary devotional or any Christian wanting some encouragement. Women will enjoy it and want to discuss it with friends. After reading one of this author's inspiring books, you will be searching for more as your soul yearns for encouragement and feeding. This would make a lovely gift with Christmas coming soon. I rated it a 5 out of 5 stars. Reviews were posted on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Deepershopping, Goodreads, and TBCN. I was given the book by Book Fun (The Book Club Network) and this is my honest review.

I really enjoy Ms. Swalwell’s devotionals and this one was no exception.  Ms. Swalwell writes about experiences we all have and is able to add her sense of humor and a deeper message.  A theme I see in Ms. Swalwell’s books is patience, hope, love and peace.  She is able to emphasize that God’s will will be done, even amongst our impatience.  This book especially takes us through some days when frustration is at it’s highest—but God is always there to guide us even when we are not looking toward Him.

If you are looking for a great, easy to read devotional this one is for you.  You will not be disappointed at Ms. Swalwell’s writing style, the stories she shares and her knowledge of the Bible as it is all woven together in this delightful devotional.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this book.  I received a copy of this book from bookfun.org in exchange for an honest review.
