ABOUT BOOK: She rolls the dice, but only God controls the cost of her wager.

Cara of Camulodunum dreams of traveling the world, but as the daughter of a blacksmith, the height of her exploration is the plebian carpenter’s shop of her intended. Then she meets the patrician’s son, Eric Paterculi, who regales Cara with tales of Greece and Hercules.

The sons of Roman noblemen are meant to become soldiers and politicians, and Eric’s father, the Legate of Britannia has illustrious plans for Eric. However, Eric fails a rhetoric class and seems more interested in training for the Olympic Games than for statesmanship.

At the training grounds, Victor Ocelli, a member of the Viri piracy ring, befriends Eric in order to use him against his father.

The more Cara learns about Eric, the more she desires to break free from the restrictive rules of her intended. But breaking the rules lands Cara in a bondage worse than she could have imagined. Only Eric can save her, but will a patrician defy his family to rescue a plebeian?

ABOUT AUTHOR: Anne is a mental health counselor, military spouse, and mama to an opinionated preschooler named "Joe-Joe" and a very dramatic baby named "Chip." Reading Rosemary Sutcliff as a middle school student and taking Latin in college instilled in her a love of the Roman Empire, leading to her Love & Warfare series. Moving to the CO Rockies inspired her to write the Lawmen & Suffragette series, romantic comedies set in the Old West. Working in mental health got her interested in writing women's fiction.

When not writing or reading, you can find Anne introducing her boys to the outdoor wonders of colorful Colorado.

I'd like to go to the past and visit with my great-greats right down to the ones who first came to the new world! See how they lived and what they were like. Who was the first one to learn about Jesus and pass that legacy on to the rest of us. Going to the future? Hmm, maybe just see how all my grands and their families turn out and if a solar flare or EMP ever did hit and did we have to go back to no electricity days or what new gadgets had been invented.

I'd go  visit Adam and Eve in the Garden to walk in the cool of the day with the Lord.  What a sweet time that would be!

EB, please.
If I could be a character in a book, I would be Aristotle. Would love to have
lived in his age and have been intelligent enough to come up with sayings such as:
" Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work. "
" It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light. "
These are two quotes that life has proved to be very true.
It must have been remarkable to be able to come up with quotes that have been
passed down through the ages.
Thanks for your consideration.
I would travel back to the past to experience life in another time (Regency). It would probably ruin my romantic notions, but I'd still love to go! EB, please, 12 weeks to read and review.

I would go to the past and ask more questions from my grandparents. I would also spend more time with them. I miss them. Please enter me in the drawing. 6 weeks.

I would love to travel back in time to the time Jesus walked the earth and see Him. Then I would travel to the time my great grandparents lived and raiswd thwir families so I could meet them and learn more about my family history.

I would like to be Anne in Anne of Green Gables. She was so smart and creative and had a great view of life.

4.  I would like to meet past ancestors; I did not know my grandparents on my father's side.  In the future it would be great to see how the younger ones in the family now turn out and the lives that they have.
