JULY 17th "GIVEAWAY" EVENT (1) $10.00 GIFT CARD HEARTS OF PURPOSE (13) BOOKS ALL ASSIGNED

ABOUT BOOK; Following the example of Joan of Arc, who sought God on her knees, received a directive from Him, and then stood and followed His leading, you too can be inspired and equipped to live out your purpose in first hearing from God and then taking your stand in following Him. Hearts of Purpose brings you nine real-life stories from ordinary women doing extraordinary things for the glory of God. These powerful stories are inspirational and reflective and will help you open the door toward exploring His call in your own life.

As Gail Grace Nordskog professes, quoting Song of Solomon 2:4, His banner over me is love. Just as Joan of Arc could step forth in full confidence under the banner of her calling, so we too have the banner of God s love over our lives. Nordskog reinforces this affirmation throughout her book, reminding readers of God's love: the touchstone that directs our hearts and lives.

ABOUT AUTHOR: Gail Nordskog hosts “Hearts of Purpose,” a television show encouraging Christians to seek God’s will for their lives and to live out their lives with action and a passion for God and others. Many of her guests are missionaries who serve all over the world. Prior to this, Gail was the TV host of “A Message for Women.” She also co-hosted with Dr. Ted Baehr – founder and president of MovieGuide.org – his TV show, where she had the pleasure of interviewing the incredible Leigh Anne Tuohy (The Blind Side), and movie stars like Kirk Cameron (Fireproof) and Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side). As co-publisher with her husband Jerry of Nordskog Publishing, Gail established the “Gail Grace Nordskog Collection” to produce inspirational and reflective prayer journals as companion pieces for selected books. Upon reading Susie Hobson’s powerful yet simple message in Loving God with All Your Heart, she knew that a prayer journal based on this message would be a perfect tool to help people grow in their love of God. Gail is always seeking new ways to communicate through print and media the precepts and truth of God’s Word in all areas of daily life. She has served on the board of an international adoption agency and as a branch director of the Ventura Office of Family Connections Christian Adoptions. The Nordskogs live in Ventura, California, where Gail is a full-time wife and mother, spending the majority of her time raising their four school-age children who were adopted from China.

REVIEW: The author starts out with a fun but serious, touching and imaginative interview with Joan of Arc. She highlights and asks Joan about important event’s in her life. This lays the foundation for readers as they learn about ordinary women who have done and continue to do extra-ordinary things with God’s strength and courage.

These women were willing to take a stand. Joan says, “Standing for your principles takes courage and almost always comes at a cost.”

“And transformation takes place within your heart and your heart and…..what is the fruit of that transformation? … It’s more people doing practical things that reveal a changed heart. It’s more people loving God with all their heart and loving their neighbor, regardless of skin color or culture, as they love themselves.”

Each of the women this author introduces exemplifies a changed heart and shows how God has called them to love their neighbor. Wow!  None of these women set out or dreamed of God using them the way He chose to. God selected these women right where they were and asked them to accept His call. When they took those first steps into the calling and watched God move their life was never the same.

This is a beautiful hardback book with a blue ribbon inside to mark your place. This author takes readers on an encouraging adventure through the lives of these ordinary-extradentary women. who share their story in first person. Each chapter ends with discussion questions. There is also room for journaling. This book is good for your devotion time. It also makes a lovely gift.

First off, I adore how this looks and feels like a fancy classic book with its hard cover and beautifully classical design.  The pages are stiffer than normal paper, thus making it more durable and perfect for gift giving! Now, for the stories themselves, there are no words to express correctly, although I will try to find some. The heart wrenching, beautifully poignant, yet so uplifting personal testimonies remind you that God is faithful and hears our cries! You will cry, laugh, smile, scream and hurt right along with these women as you read about their lives. Each story ends with discussion questions which will challenge you even more.  The results of this book are exactly as the back blurb declares: inspire and encourage you to fulfill your God-ordained purpose! You will never regret giving this book a chance and sharing it with others who may have lost their way or feel God isn’t listening. I’m already thinking of many whom I would like to gift this to!

I received this from Bookfun.org and this is my own personal opinion.

Thanks for the review Susan! I agree with you It was a beautiful book inside and out!

Hearts of Purpose is a compilation of stories of ten women who have trusted God with their dreams and have become the hands and feet of Christ to hurting people around the world. The book begins with an imaginary interview with Joan of Arc and the woman who presents these real-life accounts, Gail G. Nordskog. The book itself is a hardback book with glossy pages and beautiful color pictures throughout. After each story, Nordskog has a list of discussion questions to help the reader personalize some of the things the women shared in their stories. The storytelling is excellent, the first person narratives flow well and are easy to read. From orphanages in China, India, and Africa to a pregnancy center in California, from Youth With A Mission medical ships to stroke rehab centers and wheelchair ministries in the Ukraine and to clinics in Ethiopia where people seek treatment for Mossy Foot disease, these ten ordinary women are ministering to impoverished orphans, special needs children, women and men in desperate situations all over the world. Each of them has learned to follow the prompting of the Holy Spirit and allow God to minister through them, even as they struggled with hard things in their own personal lives, such as cancer, blindness, insecurities, guilt from past decisions and dysfunctional families. Ordinary women who have been able to do extraordinary things because they chose to say 'yes' to a God who supplies and enables. A beautiful and wonderfully inspirational book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author through Book Club network. A favorable review was not required and opinions are my own. I have posted reviews on the following sites: Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Deepershopping, Christian Book, Booksamillion, GoodReads, and NetGalley, if available.

Hearts of Purpose-volume 1-The Call—is a book in the Gail Grace Nordskog Collection.  She begins this inspiring book with an imagined conversation with Joan of Arc as an introduction to the stories of ten ordinary women.  Each one is an ordinary woman who has accomplished extraordinary things for God.  The extraordinary “God things” include a pregnancy center, ministry to orphans, Christian Adoptions Agency, women’s ministries and Safe Passage for abused women and children, YWAM Medical Ships, work with special needs orphans, Movieguide Faith and Values Award and movie productions, and more.  The personal story of each woman by itself is amazing.  Yet, the story of how God has used each one to improve lives and rescue individuals and a world in need is inspiring and challenging.  The reader cannot help but be moved to reflect upon her own life and how she is fulfilling her own purpose for God in the world.  I recommend this enthralling book that I received through TBCN in exchange for an honest review.  (posted on Amazon, Good Reads, Christian Books, and Books-a-Million; not found on Deeper Shopping or Barnes & Noble)

This nonfiction book contains the biographies of ten contemporary Christian women who are making a difference in the world. It begins with a conversation with Joan of Arc, who is featured on the cover. I enjoyed that intro. I had never heard of any of the women whose stories are shared. My favorite was the sixth narrative about Lisa Shidler, who has rescued many special needs orphans in China. Several of the ladies had sad backgrounds but have overcome their painful pasts. I found it sad that some had experienced immorality and divorce, but it shows how God can use imperfect people. This nice hardback book has a blue ribbon bookmark and color photos. These female heroes should inspire other ordinary women to give their lives in service for the Lord. I received a copy from Book Fun Club. All opinions are my own. Posted on FB, Amazon, BAM, & CBD.

Thanks for the reviews Mary, Jacqueline and  Anne! I really enjoyed this book. It was inspiring.
