2. If the house were burning down and you could rescue three things purely based on sentimental value (not practical stuff like your phone, wallet, computer, etc) what would you rescue and why?

My mother's jewelry box, the box of old family photos and the china set my dad gave my mom on their first anniversary in 1962. These items could never be replaced and their value is priceless to me.

Extra entries for the Left Behind series please. I haven't read this series.

Laura,

I'm sentimental, so heirlooms are priceless to me as well.  Old family photos would be very difficult to replace.

I read the Left Behind series years ago, and they made quite an impression on me. They definitely give you a lot to think about, and they're entertaining as well.

An extravagant adventure that I'd love to go on would be to live in Israel for a year. I'd like to spend time immersed in the culture.

Caryl,

I've wondered what it would be like to visit Israel too. People I know who have made the trip have said that it was life-changing to walk where Jesus possibly traveled. A year would be an amazing adventure and give a person great opportunities to learn and understand a great deal more than just a week or two would!

If the house were burning down I would rescue 1. My Bible 2. My scrapbooks 3. My granddads railroad watch

Thank you for the chance.

Extra entry for the Left Behind Series as I loved those books but don’t own them.

Hi, Lucy!

Wow - your grandfather's railroad watch sounds like a special heirloom! I can see why you'd want to rescue that piece! What job did he have for the railroad?

If my house were burning and I could only rescue three things based on sentimental value, they would be:

1. My hard drive with all the pictures of my daughters on it.

2. My journals which I've been amassing and writing in for nearly 15 years.

3. My collection of Francine Rivers books.

(I already have the Left Behind series, so give them to someone else.)   :)

Hi, Jolene!

Great choices! Photos are precious, especially family pics, and not easily replaced. Fifteen years of journals - you're a dedicated writer!

It's interesting that you'd choose your collection of Francine Rivers books - but then, I'm a fan of Francine too! My favorite of hers is the Mark of the Lion series. Those novels blew me away! Stories today are getting edgier and more "real," but she went where most authors weren't willing (or felt able) to go in Christian fiction at that time.

I would rescue my children's baby pictures, grandparents bibles and great grandmothers baking dish. They all have so much meaning to me and are irreplaceable.

The pillowcases are beautiful. I would love to win either but the baby ducks one would be my favorite.

Cathy,

I can understand why you'd make those choices. Baby pictures of our kids are so precious! And your grandparents' Bibles are special too! I don't have an actual Bible that's been handed down, but my grandmother gave me my grandfather's story Bible (the complete Bible that has been paraphrased). tt's lovely with many photos and has a soft leather cover, just like a regular Bible. I never met my grandfather because he died before I was born, but it still holds a lot of meaning for me.

I Would want to take the antique rocker that belonged to my Grandma that I remember sitting in her bedroom, the pictures of my children and the quilt my mom made for my wedding.

Cindy,

I can understand why the rocker would be meaningful and difficult to leave behind. Of course, pictures of our kids are important! And how special to have a quilt made by your mom. Another heirloom to pass down! So much work and love must have gone into that gift.
