BOOK BLURB: Handsome appearance counts for naught unless matched by good character and actions. That's the firm opinion of not-so-meek minister's daughter Lavinia Ellison. So even though all the other villagers of St. Hampton Heath are swooning over the newly returned seventh Earl of Hawkesbury, she is not impressed. If a man won't take his responsibilities seriously and help those who are supposed to be able to depend on him, he deserves no respect from her. In Lavinia's pretty, gray eyes, Nicholas Stamford is just as arrogant and reckless as his brother--who stole the most important person in Livvie's world. Nicholas is weighed down by his own guilt and responsibility, by the pain his careless brother caused, and by the legacy of war he's just left. This quick visit home to St. Hampton Heath will be just long enough to ease a small part of that burden. Asking him to bother with the lives of the villagers when there's already a bailiff on the job is simply too much to expect. That is, until the hoydenish, intelligent, and very opinionated Miss Ellison challenges him to see past his pain and pride. With her angelic voice in his head, he may even be beginning to care. But his isn't the only heart that needs to change. These two lonely hearts may each have something the other needs. But with society's opposition, ancestral obliga

tions, and a shocking family secret, there may be too many obstacles in their way. Fans of Georgette Heyer, Lori Wick, and Julie Klassen will enjoy the spirited exchanges between the bluestocking minister's daughter and the bruised war hero as they move past pride and presumption to a humbled appreciation of God's grace and the true strength of love.

FROM CAROLYN MILLER: Hi, I'm Carolyn Miller, author of 'The Elusive Miss Ellison'.
I live in the beautiful Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia.

I'm married, with four gorgeous children, who all love to read (and write!) as I do (except not in the Regency genre - funny, that!).

My favourite authors are classics like Jane Austen (of course!), Georgette Heyer, and Agatha Christie, but I also enjoy contemporary authors like Susan May Warren and Becky Wade.

I try to write stories that are fun and witty, yet also deal with real issues, such as dealing with forgiveness, the nature of really loving versus 'true love', and other challenges we all face at different times.

I hope you enjoy reading my novels.

Thanks for stopping by!

I do love pets.  Right now we don’t have a pet because we are part time missionaries and travel too much.  But someday when we stop traveling we want to get a golden retriever.  I love those dogs and look forward to getting one!

2. definitely a pet lover but mostly with cats. I'm not a huge dog lover even though we have a dachshund who is crazy. I adore all cats!

I have this amazing book already - don't enter me, someone else can win it! I would love to be entered for the quilt. :)

I am definitely a pet lover...I love dogs! Our last dog was an Australian Shepherd names Tippy, she passed away two years ago, she lived for 17 years. She was such an amazing dog!

Hi Carolyn,

I come from a family of 9 children, and my best memories come from doing things with our family. We always had someone to play with, and if we were bored, we'd walk a block to our aunt's house. She had 8 children, so it almost doubled our "family". I especially loved our trips to Yellowstone and the Tetons. My grandpa would go and take his boat. All the kids got to ride in the boat and catch a fish. We were in Yellowstone when the earthquake of 1959 happened. That was definitely a memory, although I don't know how good it was!

I love dogs and cats but mainly want a cat because they are so independent.

I am a pet lover.  Currently we have 5 cats (3 indoor and 2 outdoor).  The unconditional love that they show and the unique personalities are a true blessing.  They provide a great sense of peace.  Sometimes looking into their eyes feels like truly experiencing God's love.

1. Definitely #1. I could have made much more money in another job because librarians in a public library don 't make much money but I will never regret working there. My 22 1/2 years passed quickly and I can truly say that it didn't feel like work!

Thanks for these giveaways! Happy New Year!!

I think it is more important to do a job I love.  That way my heart will be in it!  Even more important, I would rather do the job I knew God wanted me to do.

I would love to win this book and the beautiful book!

I think it’s important to have a job you love rather than one that pays the big bucks.  I had a job making pretty good money but it was very competitive, catty, and not very fulfilling.

I love animals...just not cats. I've had everything from guinea pigs to newts to snakes to tarantulas to rabbits to lizards. But the best animals have always been (wo)man's best friend: dogs! Especially small, loudmouthed king-of-the-castle, lap dogs :D
