GIVEAWAY EVENT

LAST DAY TO ENTER

JANUARY 31

BOOK BLURB: Bar Harbor, Maine 1940 - Nessie McDonald, daughter of a recently deceased lighthouse keeper seeks a husband by Thanksgiving to share the work and responsibility of warning sailors off the rugged Maine coast. She advertises in the Bar Harbor News and cooks gourmet dinners for each would-be husband’s interview.

Kyle Cameron, the injured seaman Nessie rescues from the sea, doesn’t qualify because he must return to his home in Australia to run his enormous sheep station. Yet Kyle, lying on a cot in the kitchen with a broken leg, points out each of Nessie’s aspiring husband’s unsuitability by reading spiritual advice aloud from Lady Jane’s New England Cookbook, Nessie’s mysteriously discovered heirloom. Kyle also offers hilarious Aussie advice.

When Kyle must return home, he cooks up a recipe of his own.

What fascinates me about lighthouses is that they use their light to guide those ships to their destinations, plus, i like how they stand on the hilltops, overlooking the seas. That's how our Jesus is. He's that lighthouse, overlooking life's sea. And, we when tossed about to, and fro. He sends out his guiding light to lead us home!

1. I received a Better Homes and Gardens cookbook at my bridal shower and I still have it. Some pages have grease stains and some recipes have comments and I couldn't have managed without it, especially at the beginning of our marriage. I really like the Gooseberry Patch cookbooks and I have a recipe in one of them and a Christmas memory in another. I also enjoy the local cookbooks that churchs and organizations publish as money making projects. These recipes are usually the ones that are down to earth and appealing to our lifestyle.

2. I have never seen a lighthouse in person but I love their purpose. Providing a beacon to light our way and guide us to safety.
