ABOUT BOOK: Along Wooded Paths

A Big Sky Novel October 1, 2011
All she wanted was a simple Amish life . . . But now Marianna Sommer finds herself depending on Englisch neighbors. Although proud of living apart from the world, she and her newly relocated Amish family have discovered that life in the remote mountains of Montana requires working together.

As Marianna begins helping those different from herself—and receiving their help—her heart contemplates two directions. She’s torn between the Amish man from Indiana whom she has long planned on marrying and the friendly Englischer who models a closer walk with God than she’s ever seen before.

Who should have young Marianna’s heart? What is God asking her to sacrifice? Her traditions? Her community? The answer is found along the wooded paths.

 A Shipshewana Amish Mystery September 27, 2011

In this first book of a three-book series, author Vannetta Chapman brings a fresh twist to the popular Amish fiction genre. She blends the familiar components consumers love in Amish books---faith, community, simplicity, family---with an innovative who-done-it plot that keeps readers guessing right up to the last stitch in the quilt. When two women---one Amish, one English---each with different motives, join forces to organize a successful on-line quilt auction, neither expects nor wants a friendship. As different as night and day, Deborah and Callie are uneasy partners who simply want to make the best of a temporary situation. But a murder, a surprising prime suspect, a stubborn detective, and the town's reaction throw the two women together, and they form an unlikely alliance to solve a mystery and catch a killer. Set in the well-known Amish community of Shipshewana, Falling to Pieces will attract both devoted fans of the rapidly-growing Amish fiction genre, as well as those who are captivated by the Amish way of life.

I usually have books on my Christmas wish list (although I haven't made one this year). Most of the series I am in the midst of reading don't have new books for the holidays (or I already have them) so I suppose I should look around here at some reviews and start making my list.

Wow, This looks great!  I just finished Falling to Pieces on audiobook by Vannetta and it was a GREAT listen one I want to hear again at some point!  Thanks for doing this!

The Book on my Christmas list is The Bone House. I just finished reading The Skin Map by Stephen Lawhead and it was just pure fun. I had never read anything by this author before. The Story was just pure fantasy about time travel and the hunt for the treasure map through time. I also enjoyed his sense of humor in the middle of a dramatic story.

Oh, and a few Christmas stories that are out now - I buy Christmas stories for my kids every year!

Others on my wish list are books are not out yet but are our Book Club Picks for next year.

Unfortunately, I don't have any books on my list for Christmas this year. I have so many books that I have yet to read, that I did not pick out any for this year.

Chis there is ALWAYS our Book Club Picks for next year. Did you get the list yet???? Some of those can go on your list my friend!! Praying for your husbands healing my friend.

I don't have a Christmas list, so no books on it.

I said this was a WISH list. I don't have a Christmas list either It's just fun to DREAM!!!

I do have two books on my wish list which are "Naomi's Gift" by Amy Clipston and "A Lancaster Country Christmas" by Suzanne Woods Fisher

Good ones!!

I have read these books, but autographed copies would be wonderful!!

I would love to have for Christmas a gift certificate to Amazon so I could have the next Vanetta Chapman A Perfect Square, also An Amish Family Reunion by Mary Ellis. There are more!!

Where to start?  I do have a few books on my wish list.  Naomi's Gift, Christmas In Sugar Creek, Falling To Pieces, Remembering Christmas, Baby It's Cold Outside, Dry As Rain...I could add more but I think this is enough for now!!  I love to read!

These ALL sound good. I've read a few and they are really good. I read and enjoyed Remembering Christmas and Dry as Rain. Really want to read the others on your list too!! Grin!
