ABOUT THE BOOK (176 pages):

Today's families are busy. Every morning, parents and children head out for a day full of school, work, sports, music lessons, church activities, and more. We return home, often tuning into television, computers, and technology, and tuning each other out! What would happen if we paused, as families, in the middle of packed schedules to seek the most important avenue of help and assurance available? What would happen if we stopped to pray? Family Prayer Made Easy is a practical guide for praying together as a family in just ten focused devotions. Together, the family can seek God in Scripture–based, Spirit–driven, action–packed, answer–delivering prayers. It includes simple ways to come together in prayer, stories to share with children of all ages, Scriptures on prayer and God's promises, and 100 interactive ideas for prayer and family worship.
Whether used once a week for ten weeks or once a day for ten days, these prayers and prayer activities will guide the family into powerful, consistent, inclusive prayer, with resources for years to come.

What a great book to use as you have family prayer time. I love the way the author has set up each day. It starts with a little prayer and reinforces it with scripture. I love the book because it helps the entire family read the Word together . There are different subjects you can prayer about and even has scriptures for holidays and how you can pray for that particular day. The author also includes a story that is very encouraging and gives us a glimpse into her family life and friends. We live in a society where everything is rushed and an urgency to get tasks completed. Now is the time to take back some of the time that the enemy has stolen and begin a prayer night with your family.

I know prayer is powerful and I know it works. We just need to discipline ourselves to make prayer time with our family a priority. I love the different options the book gives for interactive prayer time. The book is easy to understand and gives lots of examples of prayers and activities to build on your prayer time. Families need to be strong , stand together and pray for each other. Through this wonderful book you can lead your children to be more bold in their prayer life. It is a great way to build a stronger relationship with your children and allow them to share what is on their heart. I love to see a young person praying for someone. It is very powerful to watch and reminds me of "The faith of a child."

After you have completed the ten devotionals with your family, the author has included "100 More Simple Ideas For Family or Group Prayer." There are so many diverse ideas that really encourage readers to extend prayer time by doing things like bring a bible night or family reading night. This is so exciting to read about and I'm encouraged to instill this in my home.

My youngest one is sixteen and the only sibling still at home. We were discussing prayer the other night. I was a bit anxious about a medical test I was going to have done. We started talking and without blinking an eye, my hands were grabbed and my wonderful child started praying for me. I was overwhelmed with joy and tears. We have taught our children how important prayer is and to pray for each other daily. It was a humbling experience to hear my child prayer with confidence over me. After reading through this book I am excited to start implementing this very well written book into our daily family time.

"The Lord cherishes our focus on prayer , especially when we do so as a family."

Hi Deana,

I'm always thankful to see your reviews -- they're a blessing. This one really grabbed me -- I'm sitting in my office teary-eyed after reading about your 16-year-old's prayer. Thank you so much for including this very tender, personal story. I know Teresa will love it as well.

God bless.

Cathy

Thank you so much for your kind words. I always worry that my reviews are not good enough.

Blessings
Deana

I love, love, love your story about your teen, Deana! And as I mentioned on your blog, I am so very humbled by the review you have written. You are a beautiful writer and person :-) You should never worry about your writings as you have a gift. I can see :-)

Again,  I pray God moves in answered prayer beyond any measure to your souls' delight! Thank you so much for being such a remarkable light, Precious Sister.

"Family Prayer Made Easy: A Practical Guide for Praying Together" by author Teresa Herbicide is a paperback book published by Whitaker House. This 175 page gem of a book has a cute cover featuring a drawn family of four holding hands with a dog beside them. The top of the cover announces "includes prayers for holidays and special occasions".

This family book begins with a Personal Commitment to Prayer. This family agreement has places for Dad, Mom, Guardian, and five children to sign. The family agreement alone is worth getting the book. Opening the book after the Forward and Introduction are ten chapters on ten devotions on prayer (family, friends, church, school, etc.). Each chapter begin with a "Family Minute" which is a prayer that is followed by a scripture. Next is the story, questions and answers, and an interactive prayer. There are activities included, too. After the ten devotional chapters is a chapter with 100 more ideas . Then is the chapter on holidays and special occasions. The last few chapters are Classic Children's Prayers, and my favorites the ones on What God Says about Prayer and Father's Love a letter. The Appendix has prayer resources.

This is a wonderful book for families desiring to establish a family prayer time. It is biblically based and includes a lot of scripture. The back cover says to "press pause and pray" in the middle of our busy schedules. It urges families to seek God together instead of getting caught up in the everyday busyness and forget about Him. This sadly happens with all of the different school and sports activities. The practical tips given in this book would help any family get back on track for a prayer and devotional time.

Author Herbic has a pleasant, easy writing style. Her book is well thought and organized. She has done a lot of research to assist families. There are so many good ideas that new or seasoned Christian families will benefit from this book. The time spent with family in devotion or prayer is an investment that we will see increase beyond our imagination. Children learn what they live. This grandmother will use some of these ideas with my grandchildren. I cannot wait to pass this book on to my children for their families.

Do yourself and family a favor and pick up this inspiring book. It would be a great gift and wonderful for a church library. I highly recommend it to families. I happily rate this a 5 out of 5 stars. A copy of this book was provided for my honest review from The Book Club Network. Reviews were posted on Amazon, cbd.com, deepershopping.com, goodreads.com, and The Book Club Network. I am having trouble posting it on B&N but will keep trying.

Praying right now for you and your precious family, Nyla Kay, for powerful blessings over each of you...for God's greatest love! Thank you again :-)

Family Prayer Made Easy was a book that I thoroughly enjoyed.  It works well no matter how old or young your children are.  Any family that has a willingness to dig deeper into prayer would benefit from this book.  I loved the different suggestions given throughout the book as well as the different age group suggestions.

I received this book for free from The Book Club Network and the author in exchange for my honest review.  I placed my review on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Goodreads, and Deeper Shopping, if available.

Author, Family Prayer Made Easy

I was blessed to get this book. Thank you

I am excited about this devotional and eager to begin using it with my family. It contains ten specific devotions on prayer. These begin with praying for your family, then moves on to friends, your church, schools and teachers, our nation and also includes personal problems such as sickness and grief.

Each devotional begins with a quick prayer and a verse, then a short story. Teresa incorporates questions, a prayer and Scriptures about the topic at hand. At the closing of each lesson there are interactive prayer or service activities to do with your family. These may consist of something as simple as writing prayer requests on a paper and keeping
them in a jar to fixing a sick person a basket of food or doing some volunteer work at your church. These projects are meant to be done as a family and bless others in the process.
This book can be used as a daily devotional over a period of ten days, or maybe a weekly or bi-weekly devotional. I will likely use it on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, taking time for the activities in between readings. Some of the projects will take a little time and effort to complete. But don't let that discourage you! If you want more, there are 100 more ideas in the back of the book to enhance your family prayer/devotional time. It also includes many additional Scriptures.

I received this book courtesy of The Book Club Network and Whitaker House in exchange for my honest opinion. No other compensation was provided.
