ABOUT BOOK: Spunky Allison McClare is determined to be a fearless, independent woman, resorting to a mammoth hat pin for protection on her way to and from the school where she teaches. But when she takes a notion to explore the wild Barbary Coast she quickly discovers she is no match for rum-soaked brute strength.

Detective Nick Barone would rather do almost anything than teach this petite socialite jiu-jitsu, but it seems he has little choice in the matter. Sparks fly every time the two meet until a grudging friendship develops into something deeper. But when Nick suddenly leaves town, Allison realizes he's a fraud just like all the rest of the men she's cared for. Does she dare love again?

The lushness of the glorious Gilded Age beautifully showcases Lessman's passion as a writer in this engaging love story written with humor and heart. From the glamour of San Francisco's Nob Hill to the seedy gambling dens of the Barbary Coast, Dare to Love Again is a journey to find a love that never fails. Fans will love revisiting the world of the cousins McClare, and new readers will seek more of Julie's passion-filled novels.

4. Too far to me is graphic detail. In books like Julie's I can feel the passion w/out it being graphic. I stop reading when the details become too graphic, nudity, and inappropriate words. I used to stay away from romance novels until I read ones like Julie's.

Aw, thanks, Beth -- that is a true compliment, my friend, and MUCH appreciated!!

Good luck in the giveaway!!

Hugs,

Julie

1. I love historicals that are so well-written they suck you in with the romance, characters and plot, but at the same time the reader learns a lot about that particular period.I have read one of Julie's books, and it still stands out in my mind, which I feel is a compliment. I read a lot, and stories blur unless they truly excel. Looking forward to reading this book, and the great combination of romance and history and culture involved.

WOW, Becky, that IS  compliment, thank you!!  I hope you will give another of my books a go soon, and maybe even the one you "win" in this contest!! ;)

Good luck!!

Julie

Due to snow and cold, extra time off school. Reading your The Dancing Master. Looks good!

Hat pins! That is what they used for protection! Maybe we should bring those back! hehe!

LOL, I agree, MELONY!! In fact, I carry HUGE safety pins in my purse -- not as pretty, but get the job done and pin a hem in one fell swoop! ;)

GOOD LUCK!!

Julie

LOL. Good thinking!

When I read Julie's novels, I know I will learn some historical facts while being treated with a story that has pure, clean passion as well as one that touches my emotions and will have me rethinking the reasons behind my actions and motivations. Thank you, Nora and Julie for the chance to win!

Thanks, MARIANNE, for your kind words, but the true thanks goes to REVELL, who ROCKS with these fabulous giveaways, so here's to a win!!
