New release!  Mystery/suspense based on an actual historical event in northern Maine. Paperback available now on Amazon; Kindle version releases on March 1st.

Here's what it's about:

August 20, 1896, Marble Falls, Maine. A festively-adorned bridal trunk arrives on the one o’clock train, but no newlyweds debark to claim it. Curious townspeople gather for the evening train, but again no one shows up. Where was the happy couple? Why was the trunk on that train? And what if it wasn’t a bridal trunk at all…?

Present Day: Gwen Kelly comes to Marble Falls to escape a broken past, a past that revisits her when she begins to restore an antique trunk. A mysterious assailant targets her and her friends, one by one. Gwen is thrust into an awkward relationship with Officer Brent Newcomb as they race to stop the intruder from striking again. Could the trunk hold the key to this cloud of violence spreading over the peaceful Marble Lakes? If so, will they discover its secret in time? If not, what have they stumbled into?

More information on the setting on my Facebook page.  Hope you'll take a look!

Just finished Brandilyn Collins' new suspense novel, Sidetracked. Another 5 stars, no surprise there!

Christian Thriller Trailer - The following is the book trailer for the Christian thriller entitled Heart of Terror.  The Midwest Book Review said of the book: "Heart of Terror is an exciting twist of thriller and faith, very much recommended reading."  The novel is available as an ebook as well as in paperback from amazon.com and from the Barnes and Noble website.  Here is the trailer:

The Twelfth Juror is .99 on Kindle now through the end of the year.

Young, beautiful, ambitious Megan Cleary seems to have the perfect life--a dream job in a prestigious law firm in New York City, an upscale boyfriend, and a fabulous apartment. But her perfect world is shattered when one night she is brutally attacked. Afraid and ashamed, she cannot forget her terrifying ordeal, and shortly afterward she illegally buys a handgun to protect herself.

A few months later, Megan is attacked again, but this time she is armed and ready. She shoots her assailant and flees the scene before the police arrive and discover the body. She never tells anyone that she owns a gun or that she has killed a man, but her life begins to unravel as she struggles to gain control of the fear and guilt from which she cannot free herself. When events beyond her control leave her financially destitute and emotionally drained, she returns to her parents' home in Buffalo to start over.

This suspense thriller will keep you guessing until the very end!

"Once you start this book, you will not be able to put it down. If you love mystery, suspense, and legal thrillers you will love this book....Just when you think you have it all figured out, something unexpected happens and keeps you turning the pages to the end!"  Sally Shupe, book blogger.  Read the rest of Sally's review

Hi NJ,

Happy to be friends. Yes, I've read mysteries for years, too. Historical novels are my other favourite read.

Will have a look at your sites.

I'm new here too.

I've been reading mysteries since I was about 9. I just blogged about that actually - finding my first mystery.

I have 2 mysteries of my own. They're actually marketed to the mainstream, but they have Christian elements. They're classic whodunits set in contemporary Toronto, and got great reviews from Publishers Weekly, Library Journal, etc. - including comparisons to "the best of Agatha Christie." The titles are Shaded Light and Glitter of Diamonds. The 3rd book will be out in the spring.

Both books are in paperback under my N. J. Lindquist name, but have recently been released as digital books under a pseudonym. It just got too much to try to keep my website focused with my Christian books and my somewhat different mystery audience. So I am now also J. A. Menzies and the paperbacks will soon be available under than name too. It's confusing right now, but hopefully not for long.

My website for the mysteries is http://JAMenzies.com but they're also on my main site - http://www.njlindquist.com

Hi All,

I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a British author of humorous/cozy procedurals (Rafferty & Llewellyn and Casey & Catt series).

I turned indie in 2010 after many years and eighteen novels with traditional publishers.

My latest (backlist) release is A Thrust to the Vitals #10 in my Rafferty series, in which DI Joe Rafferty's younger brother manages to make himself chief suspect in a murder investigation. Rafferty has to use not quite kosher means to protect his brother and find the real killer.

The new and improved "It Is To Write" blog is back!  After over seven months of silence, due to a household move and other silly excuses, I'm reviewing DA Featherling's crime novel, "It Adds Up to Murder."  But there's something different.  This review includes an interview with the author--AND A GIVEAWAY.  Stop by at www.brucejudisch.blogspot.com and ask Dorothy a question about her writing, herself (within reason, of course), or just about anything you like, and you'll be entered into a drawing for a copy of her book.  Winner will be selected next Monday.  Please stop by.  When you read Dorothy's answers to my interview questions, you'll definitely want to read her work. :-)
